How do I get Windows XP drivers for Compaq laptop C795TU? Using Vista drivers in XP? I just bought a Compaq laptop (model number C795TU). I installed Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) on it. The problem is that a lot of stuff isn't working - the audio device is not detected, neither the Ethernet card and wireless card. Video is displayed, but using the default VGA driver from Microsoft, not the one required for this. It's a widescreen laptop, but the maximum the standard resolution the VGA driver can take is 1024x768, instead of the proper widescreen ratio it should take. The hardware is not faulty, because I ran a live session of Ubuntu 8.04, and it detected and worked with all the malfunctioning devices. I'm comfortable with using Linux, but my dad is going to be using this and he wants Windows, so installing Ubuntu won't help. So I went to the HP website to look up the drivers for this model. If not, then what should I do? I checked for the drivers separately too - like at Intel's downloadcenter.intel.com for the Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset, but found none for XP. I did think of using driver checkup utilities like RadarSync and Driver Soft to get the updates - or even Windows XP's built-in driver update feature in Device Manager, but I can't. Because, as I mentioned, the Ethernet card and wireless card aren't being detected by Windows XP. So I've no way of using those programs to check for available drivers.

Cant find drivers for the Audio and Video controllers on this Compaq Laptop after I reformatted...? I reformatted this old laptop. I have there things that dont have the correct drivers install in my device manager. Multimedia Audio Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, and Video Controller. Normally I would just go to the manufacturers webpage and download them. But Compaq doesnt have the neccessary drivers. The laptop is a Compaq Presario 1200 12XL410. I found that exact model on Compaqs webpage and it only had drivers for like the touchpad and other non-usefull drivers. Where can I go to find the drivers for the things I need. I dont want to have to contact their customer service because I would like to get this working this week.

Ok so my Compaq Preserio F700 originally had Vista on it and it crashed and I just had XP reloaded on it, ok so I have downloaded and installed all the other drivers and everything is working fine, however I cannot seem to install the correct audio driver. I even contacted HP and they provided a link but when I try and download that link and it begins to install its says that the media cannot be found. They even instructed me to download and install the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio installed on the computer before installing the audio driver, in which I did, and the installed the Conexant High Definition Audio Driver, and still no sound. So before I contact them once again I wanted to see if someone on here could help me. I'm an online student and cannot attend class without sound, because I have live seminars and cannot hear my teachers. Like I said all other drivers are installed and working fine just not the audio. How to reinstall sound card drivers to system speakers for compaq laptop? I called microsoft because my internet wasnt working on my laptop. They told me to go to system tools and enable some things. After i restarted my computer, my sound wasnt working. I tried going to control penel and trying to make the icon show up in the tasbar, but the writings all grey and i cant click on anything. Hp/compaq laptop sd slot not working after I install winxp & all its drivers? When inserted the sd chip memory into the slot nothing happens now. Before it worked in the older xp. I could not find any drivers related to this on the HP website. I had downloaded all the drivers needed and installed them successfully. Any help appreciated greatly. The sd card was formatted and is working properly when connected with a card reader. It comes off a digital camera where it works just fine.
