Asus Laptop won't turn on? Ok, I just bought this new Asus laptop, which was given great reviews. The first time I turned it on, it worked perfectly. I turned it off. I tried to turn it on again but it just froze at the screen that says "Asus". I turned off the computer, took out the battery, and turned it on. This worked- I was able to log on. Then I just put the battery back in and it worked... this is the only way I can get it to to turn on successfully. Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it so I don't have to keep taking out the battery?

ASUS Laptop computer over HP? I am looking into buying a new laptop, and I recently found this one: http://www.amazon.com/K50IJ-X8-15-6-Inch-Versatile-Entertainment-Windows/dp/B002Q8HNFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1259626398&sr=1-1 I was earlier looking at HP computers, and was originally interested in getting one of those because they are a better known brand, but after some research, I found that this ASUS laptop has the best memory/ram out of all the computers I've compared and at a much better price. I don't really know this brand and unfortunately there are no reviews on this laptop, so I was wondering if maybe anyone else knew anything about this brand or owns one. Thanks!

HP vs ASUS, gaming laptop? I cant decide!! http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4677955&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g50vt-x5/4505-3121_7-33496181.html As noted, the 17 inch dv7 has video ram all the way up to 2.3gb The asus although has a 512 mb card, but a 256 bit bus card, (dv7 = 9600m gt nvidia card, the asus is a 9800m gs) I cant decide if i want to sacrifice performance for screen size, or what. What would you guys do, Asus = 15.4 inches big, the Dv7 = 17 inches big. (Bonus: can anyone tell me the battery life of the dv7?) Bankrupcy?! i didnt know that! thank you alot, going for the HP.

Which laptop would y'all pick? Gateway P-8680 FX for $925 on craigslist, or an ASUS M51TA-X2 on newegg? Specs on the Gateway: http://products.howstuffworks.com/gateway-p-6860-fx-laptop-computer-review.htm There are 3 ASUS I was looking at on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2030260032%2050001315&bop=And&CompareItemList=N82E16834220349%2CN82E16834220393%2CN82E16834220340 I like the 17" screen on the Gateway, but the higher speed processor on the ASUS. I'd be moving from a desktop to a laptop for the first time. I'd be using it for going back to get my degree, and I'll need to run AutoCAD on it. I'd also like to start joining the wireless gaming that my friends do. I want more computer than I need, since I want it to last for a while.

What is the best laptop in a £500 budget? ASUS? Toshiba? Lenovo? HP? Which one? NO unreliable ACERs? I have been(for 2months) and still am looking for a laptop on the internet but there are sooooo many and its soooo confusing that I have the 'embarras de choix' as it is said in french! I am in the UK, so I would buy online from dabs.com, ebuyer.com, laptopsdirect.com, dell.com/uk or any other place which you can recommmend me where there are better and cheaper deals. Buying online (from a reliable and well-known source/seller) is better than buying in shops/PC World. The other day I went to Tottenham Court Road to check out the laptops on sale and the prices are crazy! £100 to £150 diferrence in price compared to online shops. So I dont mind buying online. As far as i know, ebuyer has better and cheaper deals upto now. I HOPE I GET AS MANY HELPFUL ANSWERS ASAP..THANK YOU VERY MUCH Processor preferred: INTEL Core 2 Duo Specs preferred: Good sound quality from speakers, Webcam, inbuilt microfone, bluetooth if available, ergonomic design. Please have a look atsome of the laptops I have been smitten by but I want to have some advice from you if its a good investment and which one is best to buy or do you have a better alternative to offer me? thanks The asus: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144181 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139123/ -----siemens http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144182...roduct_reviews ---asus lenovo: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148295 Are asus. lenovo, siemens RELIABLE laptop brands? what about each one's range(link above)? I cant find any cheap Toshiba with about the same specs as the ones above, Dell Studio 15 is good but there is no webcam(and is dell reliable enough?) I have answered the questions below to narrow my search: General Questions 1) What is your budget? Under £500 2) What size notebook would you prefer? c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen 4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? Acer--I have heard too many negatives Toshiba--- Nice laptop Sony--I would love to have one but I would not buy one as far as my budget is concerned since buying a Vaio is much paying for the brand. Its one of the best laptops though. Lenovo, Asus--dunno..i NEED some crucial reviews 5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook? I will use it mainly for uni purposes..doing projects, whilst in class, using simulation softwares..particularly the resource demanding MATLAB + watching movies and HD movies + saving my movies(something like a second backup) and if available..play games 6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk? Yes it will be on the move with me at university(within 3weeks now!) 7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games? It would be great to be able to play games but its not obligatory. upcoming games such as Crysis Warhead, NFS UNDERCOVER and so on. 8) How many hours of battery life do you need? AS MANY AS POSSIBLE PLEASE(NO LESS THAN 1-2HOURS THOUGH!) 9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person? NO problemo 10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc. XP or Vista..I dont mind(if the laptop can be provided without OS at a cheaper price, better enough..I have my own copy of vista and xp. 11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer? I dont mind thescreen resolution. d. WXGA or WXGA+ - 1280x768/800 or 1440x900; Wider viewing version of XGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets. e. WSXGA+ - 1680x1050; Wider viewing version of SXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets. f. WUXGA - 1920x1200; Wider viewing version of UXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets. 12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? Build Quality and Design 13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you? YES OF COURSE 14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last? ASAP...life span depends on how much I will like the laptop Notebook Components 15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 500GB? for £400, 250GB or more 16) Do you need an optical drive? yes, a DVD-RW rewriter..no bluray please
Which laptop is better? My desktop is starting to die, it's definitely hit its senior citizen years (about 8 years old). I want another computer, but I don't think I want a desktop because I want some mobility now because it sucks not being able to bring my computer places. So I want a laptop, but I want one that will be able to run games well, and the cheap laptops (4-500) don't really do that obviously. Thus I figure it would be best for me to buy a gaming laptop, so i can have the gaming and still the mobility and student stuff available. However, I need one around the price range of $1500. Right now I'm looking at these three, leaning towards the ASUS with the Gateway in a close second: http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/asus-g50v.aspx?mode=specs http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/gateway-p-7811-fx.aspx?mode=specs http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/alienware-m17.aspx?mode=specs I've compared all the Specs and stuff, and I'm leaning towards the ASUS because although it has a bit slower hard-drive, the hard-drive is bigger, and the processor is faster (not to mention it's 3 lbs. lighter) Anyway, any opinions or suggestions for other laptops within that price range? Thanks =)

I want to record my friend's band's live music on to my laptop. i have an asus Eee Pc n450 (specs http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1005pe/4505-3121_7-33911686.html) would this be possible and what do i need. i am not very tech savy so try to keep it simple, thank you Hardware more specifically (cheaper the better)

Which ASUS laptop is better? I am not a computer guy and have been contemplating buying a laptop for about a week now and have done as much research on the matter as I can. I will mainly be using the laptop for school, internet/wifi, learning/toying with adobe illustrator and other like programs for future screen printing endeavors, and possibly editing video (gaming is not an issue). This will be my first laptop, and granted I'm not computer savvy I want something that will be reliable and easy to use. I am not one to hide my ignorance and after reading several reviews I am leaning towards two ASUS computers. The ASUS K70AB-X1A, or U81A-RBBDRD05. I'm not sure if either of these would be suitable for me, but after reading several reviews and opinions those two seemed to be agreeable. I have no idea what to do or how to go about this. My budget is $700 or less. Any kind of feedback will be helpful, Thank you.
Advice on Asus Eee PC 1000HE laptop? I have considered getting the Asus laptop from amazon eventually based on my needs. http://www.amazon.com/10-Inch-Netbook-Processor-Storage-Bluetooth/dp/B001QTXL8C/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top#moreAboutThisProduct The reason why I picked this laptop is b/c of the high reviews it has gotten and because I need something light weight and portable to carry to class or to work. My only intentions are to write papers, and surf the internet for research. I do not see a need for a dvd drive or cd drive since I already have a desktop, and if I need more memory, I already have an external hard drive. Here are some of my questions 1. Does the laptop come preloaded with the MS office programs, and do those programs include EXCEL, powerpoint, and publisher. 2. Are there basic programs that I CANNOT install on my notebook (laptop) such as messengers, firefox, etc. 3. How is this different from a regular laptop despite the storage capacity and it not having a
Is the BIOS fixed? (ASUS laptop)? Well, I've been planning on getting a laptop computer to run my games on because my desktop sucks. I decided I was going to go with the ASUS G71GX-RX05 . But after reading some reviews, I learned that something was wrong with the BIOS and it caused the games to decrease to 1-2 fps. I learned that ASUS fixed the problem by updating the BIOS. My question is, if I buy one, will the laptop have the correct, updated version of the BIOS, or will I have to download it myself?

What is your opinion of the Asus G71Gx-X2 laptop? I am pretty much settled on getting this laptop, but I cant really find any reviews on it so if anyone here has it or is more knowledgable of computer components and what this laptop has to offer please share. Alienware laptop for gaming? I'm thinking of getting the M17 Alienware notebook. I don't know if its any good or not, since people always say that vista 64 bit sucks... but I mean come on...up to 8GB of RAM, dual graphics cards, 1TB of hardrive, and only for like $1,300 and as low as 39 dollars a month. I'm really tempted to buy it lol. I'm also thinking of getting a Asus G50Vt-X1, it costs about $750 refurbished. I'll link the 2 laptops below, which do you think I should get out of the 2? Thanks. http://www.alienware.com/products/m17-notebook.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-M17&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT http://computershopper.com/laptops/reviews/asus-g50vt-x1

ASUS gaming laptop durability? Thanks for reading my question, I was just wondering about the durability of the ASUS gaming laptops (specifically the G51JX line). I wanted to know if anyone has personally, or had a close friend/family member that owns one of these ASUS gaming laptops and whether or not it has been reliable and durable. I've read reviews and most of them recognize the computers as good performers and great for the price, but I would like to know how they hold up in the long run. Also, any comment about keyboard flex and overall case strength would be great. Thanks.

Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q887 vs ASUS G73JH-A2 Laptop? Okay, so I've been looking for a nice laptop for sometime now to replace my desktop and also for work/gaming purposes and I've come to two laptops where I just can't make the decision!! The first one is the Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q887. I'm in love with it because of its awesome design plus all of its specs. but it's only flaw is the Geforce GTS 360 video card which is also not considered bad but in comparison with the alternative laptop it is. The other reason why I'm leaning towards it is because it has some nice multimedia buttons so life would be easier and that's kind of important to me. And also I haven't heard or read any reviews at all about this laptop which makes me a bit reluctant. The other laptop is the ASUS G73JH-A2. Its got all the specs. you could want in a laptop, starting with the 1TB of space and the 8GB of memory and of course the wonderful radeon HD 5870 graphics card, its a perfect fit, however on the other hand I just don't like its design. I just get the feel that its too blank and the fact that it has no multimedia buttons whatsoever really annoys me!! Please in desperate need for help!!! Thanks for all of your answers, It really did help. Although most of you are going for the G73JH and all of you have a great point, but I would be fine to compromise the fact that it doesn't multimedia buttons, but for its design I dont think so and plus I've read it has some heat issues. So after finalizing these two I went back to my list and picked my #3 which is the Acer Aspire AS8943G-6190. So in comparison with the Asus and the Toshiba what do you guys think?
I want to buy a new laptop, but i cant choose between alien-ware and asus. Which is truly the best deal.? Sorry not a mac guy. Is the ASUS X5AE-SX002V a good laptop? I am looking to buy a laptop just for general home purposes, not gaming or anything specific. My price range is anything up to about £400. This laptop appears to have all the technical stuff I need, but I'm struggling to find many customer reviews about it... Has anyone owned an ASUS X5AE-SX002V? Are they decent? Laptop-buying tips also appreciated! Thanks for your responses, they're very helpful!

Is the Asus G60VX-RBBX05 available in the Philippines? I don't see it in the Philippine section of Asus' website, and if it really isn't available, how can I buy one? Can someone recommend some other laptop with around the same specs at about the same price? Which laptop should i get? The vaio or asus? I have been recommended an asus but i've seen reviews and stuff on the vaio, i like the design but i'm not so sure if the money is worth it? pros and cons? Should I buy this Asus laptop? Now, my poor old Dell is excellent, but it can't take Spore, and all these Sims 2 games (old old graphics card). So, I stumbled upon http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366615&type=product&id=1218092150740 . I was curious whether I should get it or not? It's in my price range, and I read the reviews. Supposedly the only problems with it people complained about were no backlight keyboard, double letter typing, and sucky bass. I have Sims 2 (and most of the installments), Zoo Tycoon, AND Spore. So, what do you all think?
I'm planning to buy ASUS K42JR laptop, is it a good model? Any reviews about it ?? thanks for the help..

Should i get the ASUS P50IJ-X2 laptop? I am in the market for a new laptop and this laptop caught my eye on newegg.com but no one has put up any reviews. So if anyone has this laptop please tell me whether I should get it or not.
Which laptop should I get? Hi, So I am debating between which laptop to get. I have it narrowed down to the Asus U30JC-1A http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-u30jc-a1/4505-3121_7-34043767.html?tag=mncolBtm;rnav and the 13inch Apple Macbook Pro 2.4 ghz core 2 duo. I am going to use it mainly as a college note-taking laptop and for djing. Which would be the best one to get?
What is the best mini laptop or netbook? I want to get a mini laptop or netbook (which i guess are the same). I want one that has a long battery life and portable, and also one that is fast. I heard good reviews about the asus eee pc, but I don't know because I heard about the HP and Samsung etc. PLEASE HELP!!! I WANT ONE THAT IS ALSO UNDER $400! :)
Which of these 2 Asus Gaming laptops should I get? I've been looking at the Asus G50Vt-X1, but I also see a slightly newer 1 called the X5. I was just wondering if there will be any great difference in performance...The X1 is like 100-200 dollars cheaper than the X5. First link is the X1, second is the X5. Thanks in advance. If you have any other suggestions for a good gaming laptop for around 1,000$ let me know. Thanks. http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g50vt-x1-core/4507-3121_7-33361058.html?tag=mncol;psum http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g50vt-x5/4505-3121_7-33496181.html
Asus K40IN Decent for games? I was looking at the Staples flyer, and I found this http://review.zdnet.com/product/laptops/asus-k40in-a1-core-2-duo-t6400-2-ghz-14-tft/33664913 Anyways, I looked up all the parts on several websites and they seem to be decent for this price range, which I'm happy with. However, the GeForce G102M was listed as a Rank 3 card on this site http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-G-102M.16313.0.html Basically my question is whether or not this card will be suitable to play games. To be more specific, I'd say games such as CS Source, D2 (probably overkill for that one lol), WoW, and Guitar Hero 3. Also, would it be even possible to play games such as Bioshock or Fallout 3 with little to no stuttering? (on low settings) Hopefully this laptop works out, because I was happy with the price tag (~800). If anybody knows of a better laptop with a similar price tag I'd be grateful to know it.
Are there USB ports on the Asus Eee PC 1000He? I'm looking at buying small laptop, the Asus seems perfect but I'm not sure whether there are any USB ports. I've been told by friends that it those not have any, but have seen 'USB' on some reviews but not on others.
I am planning to buy a laptop and have few choice to make. I have to select between ASUS, msi, hp.? I found ASUS K40 series very impressive and cost effective. Please let me know the reviews of this. How does it compare with other brands like msi and hp
Help with ASUS EEE laptop.? I was wondering if anyone could tell me what pre-loaded programs and software are installed on ASUS EEE PC 7" Surf notebook? It says that it comes with Linux OS and it's not compatible with Microsoft Word but then it says that you can upgrade to Microsoft XP. If I upgrade to XP will Word work? In the reviews people have said it's great for writing but no has told what program it uses for writing. Also what are the major features of it? Like does it have a CD-Rom and or a Floppy drive etc...???
Need help determining what laptop to purchase? I'm going to be on the road for the next few years and I want a laptop to keep me company. I'll be using the laptop for storing music & photos, watching DVDs, writing, and playing video games (Age of Empires III & The Sims 3). I will never connect this laptop to the internet, so I don't need to worry about anything related to mobile gaming or Wi-fi. I would like to get the most bang for my buck, but would like to find something small and portable. I have listed the laptops that I am considering, but if you have a better suggestion feel free to tell me about. I was looking at the Asus G50VT-X5 because I know I can do everything I want on it, but I hate the size. http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g50vt-x5/4505-3121_7-33496181.html?tag=box4505 I don't know if these laptops can play the games I'm interested in, but I love the compact size: HP Pavilion dv3510nr http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv3510nr/4505-3121_7-33309970.html?tag=contentBody;compare HP Pavilion dv4-1275mx http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv4-1275mx/4505-3121_7-33496196.html?tag=contentBody;compare HP Pavilion dv4-1225dx http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv4-1225dx/4505-3121_7-33497654.html?

What kind of laptop should I get? I have around 2,000 to spend on a new laptop, Ive been saving for about a year so want to make sure I dont regret what I get, or have to much hassel with it. I need a machine for games and to be used as an entertainment center, so a good graphcis card, and a blu ray would be needed, as well as a 15in-18 in screen. Maybe even a TV Tuner? What do you guys recomend I get? Ive been looking at a Asus W90Vp-X1 and if it only had a blu ray I would be pretty set on getting that one. http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-w90vp-x1/4505-3121_7-33573799.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody
Are the Asus G51 laptops any good for a PC gaming/multimedia enthusiast on a budget? I've read a lot of reviews, and they all seem to be positive, but just looking to hear from some people who have had them/used them before. Thanks!
Is this a good laptop? I was looking into getting a laptop, and this one caught my eye. It's an Asus, model K52Jr-A1. I like it because of the 500gb hard drive, and the 4gb memory. Connecting my Laptop to TV? Does the Asus G50-VT model has TV-OUT capabilities. This is the laptop I'm talking about: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g50vt-x5/4505-3121_7-33496181.html I want to know this because I would like to connect the VGA port in my laptop to the S-video port in my TV and need to know if this is possible.
Laptop advice please! Help a girl out :)? Hi, I'm hoping there are some computer techies out there! I am torn between two laptops. Can you help me decide? I know this is opening up a can of worms, as everyone has their own opinion. I'm extremely cost driven and really I just want it for the convenience/portability. I don't do any gaming so I really don't care about the graphics. I am most interested in surfing the web, email, music, photos, just very basic stuff. So, it really doesn't need to be super fast or top of the line. I will post the two addresses, one has a 2.0ghz so I'm assuming that would be faster, but would the 1.2 ghz really effect me that much? also, will my software work on the new windows 7 premium? People were complaining about that on the Asus review, but it seems like it is more a software issue and not so much the computer. So, do you like the Acer or Asus? For some reason, I like the Acer better and it's cheaper. :) Thanks! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220663 or http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Acer+-+Aspire+Laptop+with+AMD+Athlon%26%23153%3B+X2+Dual-Core+Processor+-+Black/9640912.p?skuId=9640912&id=1218135735855
Which is the better laptop? Toshiba - Qosmio Laptop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P7350 - Rogue http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?... Asus - Laptop with Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology - Black http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?... Both have 4gb of RAM, however the Toshiba has 3mb of Cache Memory, whereas the Asus has 2mb. Asus beats Toshiba on Processor speed and Graphics Card. Toshiba has a 17" screen, which I thought was awesome, but 15.4" isn't such a bad thing. The reviews say that the Asus is misrepresented: it has a 7200rpm HD, so it beats the Toshiba in storage space. The games I'm interested in are the newer FPS such as CoD, Crysis, Endwar. Also, I have some interest in the new MMORPG: Age of Conan. Based on these two laptop's specifications, which do you think would perform better, and what kinda settings would the winner be able to run these games on?
Will this computer run The Sims 3 on Vista? Hi, I'm looking for a laptop that is decent for gaming without spending five years saving. I found this one, the Asus G51Vx-RX05 laptop, and so far it looks pretty good to me, especially at only $1049. However, there is one game that I'd really like to play: The Sims 3. It doesn't work on the cheap desktop I'm using now, so I'd love to get a computer that can actually run it for more than a few minutes without getting the Blue Screen of Death. I'm not completely sure whether the Asus G51Vx-RX05 will run The Sims 3, because it comes with Windows Vista, and I don't want to try and put XP on it. I thought I'd ask on here first, so that I don't get disappointed if I try to play The Sims 3 on it and then have it crash on me. Could someone please help me? Thanks in advance! Is the ASUS Republic of Gamers G51JX-X3 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop any good? By good, I mean does this crash a lot, BSoD and whatnot. Does it over heat? Does it have problems running multiple tasks at once, etc. Things of this nature.I can't find a review of this laptop anywhere online. So I'm wondering, has anyone bought this yet and is it worth the money? Have you come across any issues, and if so what kind? Thanks in advance. Here are the specs too in case anyone was wondering. ASUS Republic of Gamers G51JX-X3 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop * Intel Core i5-430M Processor * 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM, 2 SODIMM Slots; 8GB Max * 500GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM); Super Multi Optical Disk Drive; Wi-Fi 802.11 bgn * 15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 LED LCD Display; NVidia GTS 360M Graphics Engine with 1GB DDR5 dedicated VRAM * Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) Operating System; Bluetooth; 2.0MP Webcam; Backlit Chiclet Keyboard
Is Asus G71gx-RX05 a best choice for gaming laptop under $1300? I am looking to buy a gaming notebook. My budget is $1300. I have read some reviews about it and chose it. Do you think it is a good choice or are there better gaming laptop available within that price tag
Any one uses Asus Eee PC 1005HA or 1008HA? How do you find it? As title thanks. Just anything in general. How do you find this machine? eg. performance, portability, friendliness, battery life etc. I'm choosing between Asus Eee PC 1005HA or 1008HA and HP mini 110.. http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1005ha/4505-3121_7-33698049.html http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-mini-110/4505-3121_7-33664859.html
What laptop should I get that can function as a tablet pc for taking notes in class? I was looking at the Asus Eee T91, Asus Eee T91MT, and the Dell Latitude XT. I like the size of the netbook, but I was told in reviews that the Asus is terrible for taking notes in class in Word. This will be its primary use. Any ideas on other netbook tablets, or just smaller tablets in general?
Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on an Asus G50VT-X5 from Best Buy? Looking through a Best Buy product catalog, I found that they were selling an Asus G50VT-X5 for $899. It has an excellent graphics card for the price (9800M GS), but the processor seems a little on the weak side (Core2Duo P7450 @ 2.13 GHz), probably as a compromise to lower the price of this machine. However, CNet (http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g50vt-x5/4507-3121_7-33496181.html?tag=mncol;psum) lists the X5 as having a P8700 @ 2.53 GHz. Can anyone confirm which processor the X5 has? If it does have the P7450, would it be possible to upgrade it to a better processor? On Wikipedia it lists the P7450 as using a lower voltage rating than any other processor in the P series of Core2Duo processors, so I'm kind of doubtful as to whether the P7450 can be upgraded at all... Another not-so-related question: Does the X5 indeed come with a 9-cell battery?

Which laptop would you recomend? Acer Aspire One A150-Bb Netbook or ASUS Eee PC 901? Personal experience and reviews please? Or any other possibilities in a similar price range. Size and portability is important. Thank you in advance :) I originally preffered the Acer; it is also slightly cheaper! I cannot be bothered with Linux, so please don't suggest that.
ASUS Laptops Question....? I'm planning on getting a laptop for my combined birthday/Christmas present. The main use of it will be to write - I probably won't even get Internet - and so I'm looking into ASUS laptops for the size and price, plus they've been rated very good for journalists (although I'm a fiction writer). Anyway - my only concern is the screen size. I know I can always change the font size, but I don't want to make it super big just to read it... So, what I really want to know is what screen size you have and whether or not it's hard/easy to read. I'd also love it if you could give me your model type and just your overall reviews of it, although it's not necessary. Thanks guys. (;
Gaming Notebooks: Gateway FX vs. Asus? I want to buy a laptop for college and I was just at Best Buy, and one of the guys that works there showed me a new Asus gaming notebook that they just got today. I didn't memorize the model number, but the back of the laptop was white and said something like "world confederation of gamers". I really wanted the Gateway FX, which Best Buy still has on their website, but it has been discontinued in their stores. They don't have the new Asus laptop on their website yet, but the Asus that is on www.bestbuy.com has a lot of reviews that talk about how the wifi is unreliable. Does anyone know the model number for the new white Asus laptop that is at Best Buy? And is Asus really a good, reliable brand? I play games like CounterStrike: Source and I want a powerful laptop with a decent price. The FX had really good specs and it had a 17" display; the Asus at Best Buy is only 15.6" and I think the CPU isn't as good. Does anyone have good/bad stories about Asus brands? I am very unfamiliar with the company. Also, if I have problems or something breaks, I want to make sure I will be able to buy replacement parts or get live help fairly easily. I believe the Asus at Best Buy is the G51.
What's a good low priced gaming laptop? Unfortunate situation - my laptop was stolen. So I'm looking for a new laptop (and one I'm gonna safeguard like a sonofabitch). I didn't want to pay too much, and I definitely wanted to be able to play new games on it. A gaming laptop is preferable. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat13504&type=page&pageIdentity=searchDriven&useProductString=true&productString=1218124204092*1218124208054*1218123847836&unProductString=1218122908891*1218120538238*1218130485627*1218100581211*1218125777703*1218125774394*1218125018246&catId=pcmcat150700050002 These are comparisons on Best Buy. I was thinking that the black and blue Asus laptop was probably the best buy due to the specs, and the raving reviews I saw on it. I almost am ruling out HPs altogether because for some reason the processor speeds on those things are so darn slow compared to other laptops of the same price. The video card had pretty good reviews on it, but I wanted to know from a gaming community if all the other specs matched. Also, if there are other suggestions, it'd be much appreciated.
asus G51vx series: i wanted to buy this computer and read reviews and noticed lots of peoples are? not happy with sound quality. i don't care too much about sound as long as it's similar quality as most of other laptops came out these days. so, is sound at least mediocre ( comparable to most laptops in $500-1000 range) and people are disappointed because they expect it to be comparable to good $1000-1500 range gaming laptops? or the sound is just too bad (comparable to some cheap below $500 range laptops)? pls help, thanks.
Which (gaming) laptop is better? I've narrowed my search of laptops to two: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152073 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220349 I'll be using the laptop that I buy mostly for games (WoW, Warhammer Online, Starcraft II, and maybe some high end graphics games like CoD and Fallout 3), So I'm just wondering which would be better overall. My main concern is that the ASUS laptop is looking to have some technical problems based on the customer reviews. Sometimes the screen goes blank after opening, sometimes the fan blasts 100% when it's closed, laggy keyboard and touchpad, but some of them said that they fixed it by downloading the BIOS update. Still, I'm a little worried that not all the problems will be fixable.
What laptop do you suggest? My parents are getting me a laptop, and I'm not sure which one I should get. We went the Apple Store today, And I really like the 13 inch and I also saw some pretty good reviews on it. Luckily, next door was the Sony Store, so I also browsed inside there too. I like some of their laptops...But I'm still not sure. What is a really good laptop? here is what I look in one- Lots of Storage, I like to write DVD and CD player, I don't exactly need Blue-Ray. I like to make videos, I do that on a ASUS laptop though. It uses Microsoft. Of course, I need Internet. (But every laptop has that) Of course, I need a NotePad or Mircrosoft Word or something to write in., I would think all of that comes in every laptop, but thats really all i like to do on the laptop i have now. I want a lot of storage though, and I want its to be about medium size, about the size of the 13 inch Apple. I don't really want a big sized one, its well, too big. And small ones are sometimes impossible to work with. Thanks! My friend suggested Dell, Whats the best Company for Laptops? To you? Dell Sony Apple... So on....
Would this RAM be able to go into this laptop?(links inside)? Like the question says would this RAM http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT2KIT25664AC800 Be able to go into this laptop http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3157&review=Asus+Z96J and if not could you recommend another 4G 2 piece kit that would for around the same price... I would also like to know was if i were to replace my current 1G of RAM with those 2 2Gs of RAM would i lose data on my computer....
Is this a good gaming laptop that will still allow school work? Well...I'm 14 years old and I've been using the same computer for atleast 10 years (it has programs put on it in 1995...) and I think I'm a bit overdue for a new computer. I'm a big gamer but I still have to tend to school work and such like writing essays, doing powerpoints, spreadsheets, and things like that. So the big question is... Is this computer here a good gaming one that will still let me do all the things suggested above? here's the link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+Laptop+with+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B2+Quad+Processor+-+Black/9568149.p?id=1218125774394&skuId=9568149 If possible, perhaps if the computer not so good then someone can find a better one for me on BestBuy since I'm not really a tech wiz and I have no idea what any of the vocabulary on some of the reviews on the computers mean. Please don't suggest anything too much over $1,400 though, and no desktops please =) Also for the computer I suggested above, would I have to buy a new printer/scanner for it? My old one is a lexmark and I still have my installation disk.
Help choosing a laptop cooling mat? I'm buying the Asus G51VX and with all the reviews I've read, it's a hot running system. I'm leaning towards the Belkin cooling mat but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for this particular laptop.
can you add more hard drive space to your laptop? I'm thinking of buying the Asus Eee PC for college and I've read the reviews and everything seems great. The downside of the computer is that the hard drive has only 4G. Is there a way to Increase the hard drives memory/space?
Any laptop suggestions for multimedia student? I have asked several technicians, but all of them have suggested different brands of laptop such as Asus, Dell and BenQ.. I was actually planning to get a Dell XPS M1530 because i read alot review that says Dell has good warrenty which i'm not sure if its true, but also review that says BenQ is as good as Dell XPS which is another great option for multimedia. I'm not sure which laptop is the best to get because i do not want to waste my parents money so i need to make sure that i choose the right laptop that is very useful and also worth the price. I really hope that i can get some feedback from the laptop users so that i can make the right decision. Please and Thank you.
Do you need to buy a ac adapter outside of buying an asus eee pc? I am looking at buying one, and have seen ac adapters selling separately. Do they come with the laptop or do you have to buy them separately? Any reviews/comments/recommendations(which model) on these welcome Thanks
asus g1s graphic driver problem? when i read asus g1s reviews i found something that was a little odd! you can't upgrade your graphic driver,as nvidia company always releases new driver version you can't use it for your laptop, you'll have just the driver version which is on the graphic cd that included with your laptop! is it true? and another question is does dell xps m1530 support newer version or it has same problem too?

My budget is anywhere from 200 to 600 dollars, and with that, I wanted to buy a good laptop, specifacally for researching and typing papers, and the laptop must be able to be taken on-the-go. Any suggestions? I was looking at the ASUS Eee Surf 4G, which I thought might work pretty well, so please, give reviews on the Surf, and give other suggestions for small notebook computers as well. Thanks in advance.

Asus N61Vg-X1 Laptop? Hey guys, I've been looking at this Asus laptop and I'm almost in love with it. It has all the specs I want/need! I really believe I should get this for college! However, I can't seem to find any major customer reviews. What is known about this laptop? Any feedback would be extremely appreciated! Thanks! Need a laptop 800-1000$ great for gaming? Im getting a laptop for my birthday and i want a gaming one. I know what XPS laptops are, but they are usually over my limit. The only brands I would buy from are HP, Toshiba, Asus, Dell, Sony, Acer, Alienware, Lenovo, IBM, Fujitsu, and Samsung. Maybe if you could convince me there are other good brands, i would consider it. Must be durable, and won't fall apart, or break down. *MUST* have a webcam. It must have a good battery. 3+ hours of up time is all I really need. Since I'm into gaming, it should also have a good graphics card, and 4GB RAM. I think I am most interested in a HP laptop, because everyone says they are very good machines, and I have done the research by myself.. Anything that meets the above requirements will definitely be on my list! Also, I will not buy online. The stores that are in my country that I can access are BestBuy, Future Shop, The Source By Circuit City, Sears, Walmart, and.. i cant really think of any more. Please post with the link, price, and a quick review of the laptop. Thank you. Please, no one else post something like SloppyPoo, cause it makes no sense. ._.'

What is the "best" laptop brand of these? Hi there! So if I'm accepted to my choice university, I'll be needing a new laptop. Mine will be a little over 2 years by then, and it's kinda slow. :( Actually, is it even worth it to buy a new one? I've got an Acer Aspire 5100-3123, with 512 MB of RAM, running XP. I think the processor is "AMD Turion 64 X2" but I'm not sure. It can get kinda slow though. :P Anyway, if I will be buying a laptop, which is "better"? Acer, Asus, Dell, Gateway, HP, HP (Compaq), Sony, Toshiba? Acer: Aspire 5535/6920/6930 Asus: M50VM-X2 Dell: Inspiron 1545, Studio 15 Gateway: M6882-h HP: G50/G60, Pavilion dv6-1030ca HP (Compaq): 6730s, Presario CQ60 Sony: VGNNS140DS VAIO NS Series Toshiba: Satellite A350-05N/L300-07R/L300-0G1/L300D-03K, Satellite Pro A300-012, Tecra A10-00R/A10-00S I'm not asking for a review on each, haha, but I'm just giving you what's available to me and seeing if you guys have opinions on any of them. Thanks! Or should I get a Mac? Are they a lot better...? I'll be using it for MSN, iTunes, Facebook, Word Processing, etc. I don't think I'll need to buy any programs for university. It's Waterloo's Math/CA program.
Difference between these 2 laptops-Which would be better for gaming? And why would you say? I have the Asus x83vm-x1 Here is the link for specs on it: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-x83vm-x1-core/4507-3121_7-33361040.html?tag=mncol;psum Am looking at the Asus G50Vt-X5 and here is specs on it: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g50vt-x5/4507-3121_7-33496181.html?tag=mncol;psum Which would you say is better? As i'm a little confused the g50vt has what looks like a better gpu, but less video ram. If you can look up these 2 laptops elswhere and help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Also please everyone who reads this put their opinion in. Don't hesitate just because of one answer. Consider this kind of like a poll. Thanks
Gamers, Which gaming laptop do you own? I am planning to buy a gaming laptop that can play all the latest games. Not that expensive. Online reviews say dell xps, asus, alienware(i dont think it is available in india), and can all the latest games run on a macbook pro with multi operating system? If you play games frequently, then just till me which notebook you own and if any problems faced with. Also suggest videocards and other gaming requirements. Please suggest a laptop that is a balance of price and features as i do not want to regret later after buying.Which gaming laptop do u have?
A little on the HD 4870 1GB (Asus and HIS)? I would like to ask on the HD 4870 1GB. There are two brands that I was considering, ASUS and HIS. For ASUS, I was looking up on the 4870 1GB Dark Knight series whereas the HIS was the 4870 1GB IceQ 4+ series. (HIS' 4870 is factory overclocked from 750Mhz to 770Mhz) I've observed that the Dark Knight is a rather ugly card IMO. But that isn't really important. I am interested in noise levels and temperature at the moment because I've done research on their gaming performance and there wasn't a significant difference. Price is negligible as well. The HIS seems to have a decent cooler. The design is x10 more sleek and is in a nice shade of blue. Not to mention, under UV light, it glows blue which makes it good for a nice LED case. While that isn't important, I've noticed the HIS runs rather cool as compared to the reference 1GB 4870 thanks to the cooler. The heat is also dumped out through the back of the computer through those air vents at the back of the GPU. However, the ASUS DK features a heatpipe cooling solution. While the GPU runs slightly warmer due to a less powerful fan, the cooling design dumps the hot air into the case of the computer. It doesn't direct it out through the air vents and just let the hot air move freely. I'm worried if this would affect the other components of the computer. The noise level on both are rather different, though. The HIS' fan runs rather loudly, though it can be adjusted lower through the ATI control center, but that would of course, result in a higher GPU temperature, but is negligible since the HIS 4870 already runs so cool. The ASUS, on the other hand, is pretty quiet as reviews say but is obviously warmer. So should I get the ASUS or HIS? I'm leaning to HIS more since it has a nicer design and well, it has a better cooling system that can be adjusted to be as quiet as the ASUS. I just want to find out more on the cooling of the ASUS since it just leaves the hot air in the computer... Oh and an extra question if you don't mind. I might even consider a MSI HD 4890 1GB overclocked but I doubt MSI's reliability and the fact it is overclocked means it would run hotter and louder. I can't find a review on the MSI 4890 since its a new card and MSI isn't all that popular. The price is only a few dollars above the HIS 4870 (yes its surprising how MSI delivers such low prices, which is why I doubt them). MSI's laptops don't get very good review so I might stay clear of them, but I would like to ask from some advice from you guys. So yeah, thanks for reading my huge wall of text.
Help choosing a Laptop. I have two laptops I have seen and wanted to know which i should go for. The one I'am most likey to get is the Asus as the specs are higher. Asus: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144182 HP: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/141618/show_product_reviews Also do all laptops come with a Recovery Disc ? Thanks.
Need to know how good this laptop is? I'v looked all over the net no review, no nothing so please help me. Model: ASUS G51VX-RX05 4GB RAM 320GB Hard Drive 15.6" 19:9 Display NIVIDA GeForce: GTX 260m w/1GB GDDR3 Memory Sorry buts that all i could find please answer.
The Asus G1S, not the Asus G1!!!!? So I've been looking at the Asus G1 and people say that the speakers have an echo effect and are quieter than normal laptop speakers. So I want to look at the G1"S" and read some reviews, well all I can find is the freaking G1 review from Notebookreview.com that is posted for the G1S or the G1-A1 and I want to know if they put better speakers on it or am I doomed to a pair of echoing speakers that will haunt my audiophile ways?
What kind of laptop should I get? Hello I am searching for a new laptop. I've had this terrible old and used one for too long now. I'm in school to become a photographer, and if not become a photographer, I still need a machine to handle all of my picture files. I want something with a nice screen, maybe around the 15 inch range. Anyway, a couple of friends and a laptop specialist (?) at best buy helped me narrow it down to around three laptops. I only want to spend about $750.00 at the MOST, so the three i'm about to list are around that price range. This first one is a sony vaio and I like it because it got some pretty good reviews and its cute :P lol http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1218038553190&type=product This next one is an asus a gaming laptop is what the guy at best buy called it and he personally recommended it to me. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9172851&type=product&id=1218044029604 And this last one is an HP, the second runner up to the asus in the opinion of the best buy associate. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9167652&type=product&id=1218041150023 I read the reviews on the asus and a lot of people complained that it was a dirt and fingerprint magnet and I'm kind of a neat freak so I think that would really bother me. I think I like the vaio better out of these THREE but maybe someone could point me in a better direction if these don't seem to fit some of the above needs. I know now a days pretty much all of the new computers have great screens, good battery life and more hard drive space than previous notebooks, so maybe I don't need anything all that special. So thanks in advance for any help please don't make fun of me for lack of knowledge in the PC department. I've always been stuck with sh*tty computers and anything will be better than this ugly worn out dell that only has about 23 gigs of hard drive space, a battery that only lasts twenty minutes and is falling apart at the hinges! Thanks a bunch to sammeh and javve03 for the quick feedback! Actually javve03, I don't mind ordering, I was only looking at best buy because if I have it shipped to the store, I don't have to pay extra for shipping lol. My original instinct WAS to go for the HP that was before my friend recommended the VAIO, so I think I just might get the HP. Thank you!
Is this laptop worth it? http://www.target.com/ASUS-Eee-PC-Surf-Notebook/dp/B001150JQ8/ref=cm_reviews_dp_seemore/601-3457633-5180900?ie=UTF8&coliid=&frombrowse=1&alt_view=custReviews&asin=B001150JQ8#RZ5T6UB2P8NMY I'm only 12 yrs old nd going to 8th grade and was wondering if this laptop can like be worth buying for homework, iming, videos, etc.
Good mini notebook/Laptop? I am looking at buying a small laptop for use when im on the go or for my little brother to use when im on the desktop. I want a fairly cheap one that can have most features of a desktop [i.e. Microsoft, windows] Probably no more then $700 I have 2 that i've had a look at, the Asus Eee PC 1000H and the MSI Wind. Can anyone post the price and link or a review that they know of another mini notebook? Also which is better? Asus Eee PC 1000H or MSI Wind? Cheers! I am no where near rich I work very hard for my money [im only 17 earning $80 per week] My brother is 13 and i dont want him to fail school like i am. I didnt have a computer until recently and i couldnt do alot of school work because of it. FiniteOxide Theres also something called paying for the comp access at libraries and fyi, my bro isn’t lazy. Im sure if you lived in a bad neighborhood you wouldn’t want your younger sibling going out at night for a crappy and slow 20 min internet access. Im not “blowing the money” Desktop, huh? So tell me, how do I take it to school or where ever I need to take it when im out? I want a laptop… LAP TOP! Not a freakin desktop! Plus, I never said anything about Apple! If I was able to list Asus as a brand I was considering do you really think Im that dumb to buy an apple? I don’t want a state of the arts awesome super laptop…. As I said, I want a MINI laptop. You know? The ones that actually cost around $600-$700. Im one that grew up with nothing so I think I would take care of a laptop, as if I’d stuff up something that important. You’re speaking as if I was a child that knew nothing Obviously you don’t read since you’ve said almost everything opposite to what I was asking!

Where can I buy an Asus XG Station in the UK? I've been browsing round looking for some way of boosting my laptop's graphics performance, and this seems like an awesome solution. http://www.asus.com/news_show.aspx?id=5369 But I can't seem to find anywhere to buy it, google just throws up loads of review and preview sites, and assuming it was released as planned in Q2 2007, then it would seem odd tha nowhere stocks it. Does anyone know where I can get one, or offer an alternative solution to my graphics problem?
Is this a good laptop for a 13 year old? I'm looking for a good inexpensive laptop and I saw this one and the reviews on the website were okay, but I need some more reviews if you have had it and could I play the Sims 2 with expansion packs on it? http://www.target.com/ASUS-8-9-Netbook-Computer-Windows/dp/B001E1KREI/ref=sc_qi_detaillink?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=02TK5GYXS28V43DRVSA8&pf_rd_p=436115101&pf_rd_i=B001E1KREI&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_m=A1VC38T7YXB528&pf_rd_t=5101
Hopefully my last laptop question.? So, on my quest to find a new laptop that will eventually replace my Dell Inspiron 6400 I came across the Asus X59Sr. It looks like a good computer, and the reviews I've read say it's a good computer. Really while looking I just wanted a reliable computer with a dedicated graphics card. So is there anyone out there who begs to differ about the Asus X59Sr being a good computer? Anyone agree that it is a good computer? I refuse to get a HP. My boyfriend has to get yet another motherboard (it'll be the 4th) for his HP. Three of my friends all own the exact same HP model and all three have various problems with them.

Multimedia/Gaming Laptop Suggestions? Hello, community members. I've been extensively researching laptops for the past three weeks, but am having a difficult time narrowing down my list. I'm looking for a laptop that will be great for multimedia and will be at least sufficient to play less-demanding games. I do not want to spend more than $1,300. I definitely want a discrete/dedicated video card and high-quality sound. I've already ruled out some of the Dell models since they tend to have lower-quality sound. The HP Pavilion HDX and Gateway P-7811FX have gotten generally great reviews which surprised me since I always though that HP and Gateway produced lower-quality products. Ideally, I'd like a 17" screen although 15.4" would be sufficient. Do I really need full high definition resolution (1900x1200) unless I have a Blu-ray drive or play higher-end games? When else does full resolution come in handy? So far, I the Lenovo Y710 is at the top of my list, but since it's relatively new, there aren't good reviews of it yet. The lower model Y510 has gotten good reviews, but I'm not sure how that translates to the Y710. In addition the above, I'm also considering the gaming/multimedia models from Asus, Acer, and Alienware. Any advice, especially model suggestions, are greatly appreciated. The more details you can provide about anything, the better! Thank you so much for the help.
What is the best portable laptop should i buy? 14.1 or 15.4? best brand? to be bought ASAP! UK and worldwide ? Hi..im actually in a need of a laptop asap for uni. i recetly bought a fujitsu siemens amilo pi 240 with t5750, 3gb n 320gb hdd and ATI HD2400 for a very cheap price of £390(MY FIRST ever LAPTOP)..bought it brand ew from tesco..but then i returned it..didnt like it(in terms of beauty n design)n sum frends @ uni(1 with a vaio and another wiz a toshiba) were hmmmm about it..i no i shudnt realy care..but then i thought..if im buyin sumfin..i better get the best i can afford..at the end,i jz ddnt like the fujitsu coz i heard frm many peopl that fujitsu is not such a big reliable brand as sony or toshiba..on top of that the t5750 was not as speedy as i expected..tho i came from using a P4 3.2GHz desktop, the diference shud have been big..but the min difference i cud see was that i cud SOMETIMES play a HD movie whilst doing a simple job in the background(like word orpaint) on top of that..the build of the amilo was totally CRAP..very easily breakable ok..i have only 2 weeks experience with a 15.4inch laptop..its a bit pain in d arse movin around with it..the problem is not much about the weight..its just 3kg and 3 kg is nothing wen lift weigts(might b a bit of warm up befor goin to gym) :-) its about comfortability..i suppose all laptop owners no zis very well i went to have a look at some laptops on dsplay in pcworld n comet..i was smitten b the DELL XPS 1330...its too beautiful n light and barrel hinge design is juz....i saw that on the stdio 15 as well..zats y im attracted to dell..but the price for the xps 1330 is too much..u can get a high end studio 15 at a cheaper price whilst reading reviews..i found that people do find trouble with smaller screen size..i dnt relise that up until today! usual stuffs likes reading websites, word tying, paint, simulation..could be a pain and u will have to scroll n scroll and scroll to read watever u need... so im finkin..a 14.1inch laptop wud b gud..or not?? wich 1 wud b best between 13.3-15.4??? obvioulsy i wud use it to watch movies too..but i prefer sometin portable coz i can always hook it to my tv if i want to watch a movie. im looking for the best 14.1 inch possible at around £700 i found sony vaio but lower specs.. what about the samsung x22? its half price(from £1k to £549) withtop end specs from laptopsdirect.. is samsung a gud reliable brand? wat about the build quality? what about asus? toshiba? the better specs..the bestter design, the best deal? i hve been looin for laptop since july 2008 and i was fed up of searchin n got that fujitsu coz it was best spec at that price..but now i want a better one.. help me out plzzzzzzzz... im tired of cheking dabs,ebuyer,amazon,dell,pcworld,laptopsdirect....wich is the best place to get cheapest n best service? either online or in shop..i no nline is cheaper..but i fink ebuyr is the cheapest accordng to my 3months research.. sorry for typing errors..dunno wtf hap with this kibord now..juz bought a brand new last week..:-( lol sorry if its too long..i tried to say as much as i can help to contribute my own search..:-) thnx in advance
i wanna get a mini laptop? my parents want to get me and my brother one of those mini laptops and i dnt know any names or anything bout them.. but my dad read something about them and i read about the asus 8.9" 4 gb net book and it got a couple of bad reviews... so i want to know about these kind of laptops please.:) and i wanna know if i can use itunes on it... fer movies and moosik.:)
Overloaded laptop now blue screens loading windows, resets, 2nd laptop to die from this, ideas? First it was an HP Pavillion ze4400 with windows XP, that i left running Azureus to download a bunch of stuff. When i came back to check on it a week later, i found it sitting there rebooting itself after about 7 seconds on the windows XP loading logo, flashing a blue screen full of text for much less time than i could ever read or try to photo it. I tried starting in safe mode, does the same thing, just keeps rebooting after a few seconds of loading the OS. Now i bought an Asus Aspire One netbook, running windows XP, and was using it on a wifi network, downloading a different file using uTorrent this time, while browsing the internet. I tried opening a playlist of music, and the music sat there skipping repeatedly over and over, and i realized the computer had frozen. I have antivirus software, and was downloading a torrent with tons of positive reviews, that would have warned if a virus were in it, so i'm confident this was an overload problem, not a virus problem. Now it does the same rebooting issue when loading windows. So now i have two laptops with windows XP on them that both flash a blue screen with text, before rebooting, during the initialization of the OS. What causes this, and how do i fix it? I have downloaded a hundredfold as much with three different desktops over the years and never had one give me this problem. I'm assuming something is overheating and desoldering itself, unless it's just a registry or OS problem. Maybe the ram burnt out? My local best buy wants $70 just to LOOK at my $375 laptop. I have a bunch of porn on there and would be embarassed to let them find it while working on it. I actually had a nightmare last night about losing my laptop. And here today i have "lost" it. Weird. After this i'm taking my desktop, duct taping the monitor to the side, and putting a handle and wheels on it to drag it around with, like a laptop that needs an outlet. I'm sick of paying for stuff that just dies. THAT NETBOOK WAS TWO MONTHS OLD!
Looking to purchase a 'Netbook' - your advice needed, please? Hi all, any advice here would be very greatly appreciated. Here's my situation: I've been through two laptops in the past (last one about three years ago) and always found them to be very.. well fragile and easily crashable (the system). I realize in the last few years they're being made better and more reliable. So, this time around, I'm on a budget, and have read all the differences, pros/cons, etc. of a netbook vs. a laptop... Reviews are great, but you never know who to trust.. My biggest needs: Good battery life, ability to P2P share (only for music downloading with programs like soulseek and DC++), some photo editing software like adobe would be ideal, good web surfing, and of course word processing for college.. My biggest question: Is the netbook capable of all of this? What would I be loosing if I purchased one over a regular laptop? I ideally would like to spend 300-350.. I have been trying to decide between the Samsung NC10 (leaning towards this, but I really don't know..), the MCI, or Asus? I love the looks of the samsung, but I read somewhere in a negative review that it doesn't support P2P sharing (this may have just been their experience). My biggest MUST is that I can fill this thing up with plenty of music, and be able to edit images casually with a powerful program like Adobe Photoshop (photography nut)... That's it though.. WHICH netbook can handle these tasks and is the most reliable and stable? Difficult question, but opinions are greatly appreciated. I've tried to compare between all the netbooks and still just totally unsure.. As I said, 300-350ish is my range but I'm willing to fork out the 400 something for the Samsung..
ASUS F3Sv B3? I am wondering if the mentioned laptop above will be a nice laptop to use. I haven't seen much reviews about it, and I don't trust the specs posted about it too much, so if anyone has it and can tell me if it'd be an OK laptop to use, please do so. Thanks in advanve. :)
I Am Down To Three Different Laptops. Which Should I Choose? I need a good, gaming laptop. Today, I researched several different ones within my budget and came to these three options: 1) The Alienware "Area-51 m15x" Laptop. Still though, many people have told me that this computor is only brand-name and rips you off. 2) The Asus g50vt-x1 15.4-Inch Laptop. I have found many excellent reviews for this laptop, and so far it is my top choice. 3) The HP DV7. Someone in a previous question of mine told me that this was the best choice for gaming experience. I don't really know though. Which one should I choose? Alright, it seems that the ASUS is getting the reviews I wanted for it. It's only $949.99 at Best Buy, so I think I'm going for it. Sorry to those who wanted me to go for the HP, but the ASUS is definitly the sexiest looking (and trust me, I'm shallow when it comes to technology).
Notebooks, PCs, Laptops for students? I'm gonna be very specific, but any substitute would be okay. I need a laptop, PC or notebook that would be best for a a student like me. It has to be light-weight, cheap, has USB, mouse and other ports, has a CD drive, can read DVDs and other CDs. Can play games (if ever I get bored in the summer. LoL) and good for educational use. I'll also be thanksful if it has Wifi in it and can have internet. I was a hundred percent happy with my choice of the ASUS Eee PC but then I saw a youtube video on it and I read a review that it doest have a CD drive. And it was true. It drained my content. I meant that I couldnt play anything on disk/CD. It sucks. It was ALMOST perfect for me. It had a camera and so much more. It had a great design too. (my opinion of course) So I gave you a helping hand, I want something like the ASUS Eee PC but has a CD drive. Thanks for the help! Some more details.... hmm...Dell laptops are okay. But im kinda looking for a notebook more than a laptop if you know what I mean.
Does anyone have any personal experience / reviews about the Asus G50VT-X5 Gaming Laptop? i am willing to spend 2000$ on a laptop but i hear that the Asus G50VT-X5 Gaming Laptop is a better "bang for you buck" than most of the 2000$ and under models. do you have one? does it run most games on high graphics?
Will the following computer stuff work? So my computer decided to cark it. Please review the specs below and tell me if it's a good idea (Or indeed if it'll actually work). CPU INTEL Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 Ghz, 6mb L2 Cache Memory 2 x 2 GB DDR2 800Mhz KINGSTON HYPERX Hard Disk Drive 500GB SATAII Hard Disk Drive Optical Drive 20x SATA Dual Layer DVD-RW burner MainBoard ASUS / GIGABYTE P45 Chipset Motherboard Video ATI RADEON 4850 512MB video card Audio Intergrated 7.1Channel Audio Case ANTEC SONATAIII Power Supply 500 Watt Replacing the processor with... Intel Q9550 CORE 2 QUAD Q9550/2.83GHz/12MB CACHE/1333MHz FSB/LGA775 CPU I want this to be fairly future-proof as changing computers is a serious pain for me, and if I have to copy over the contents of my harddrive again I'll have to waste another hour of my life. In Australian terms, thanks to a shitty exchange rate I'm looking at about $AUD1400 for this. It's a bit (lot) more than I would pay shopping around but I frankly don't care if it saves me a few days - I seriously don't have the time to play shopper. So review, critique, and help me out so I won't be stuck on my laptop! Thanks guys.
Which one of these desktop replacement laptops would you recommend? I have been looking at laptops on the net for 10 days now and I have narrowed down my choices to these: HP Pavilion dv7-1270us http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834147919 ASUS G Series G71G-X1 http://www.notebookreview.com/price/opinions.asp?productFamilyID=1230&pid=192023 Acer Aspire AS6920-6141 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115474 Gateway P-172X FX http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/31578/review/p172x_fx.html I would like a good gaming experience but my priority would be video and audio quality. I do not know much about the reliability and customer service of any of these brands ( though have heard some bad things about gateaway). If you own any of these laptops or have had experience with customer service of any of them please comment.
Which laptop is better...? Gateway P-7811FX or Asus G50VT-X5? Which is better for the money, graphics, and overall?
