Overclocking on an ASUS laptop through turbogear? Hello all. I have a 3 month old 3000$ laptop from ASUS. Top of the line. It is extremely well built for graphics and what not. My question is, Asus has a partnership with "turbo gear" which is basically a small application that you can open, and it will allow you to adjust your power settings between standard, and "overclocking at 3,5,10,15%". Don't get me wrong, this doesn't sound like the internal modification that some enthusiast push their comps to, but rather just a neat little feature from a program. Can overclocking at "15%" damage the computer? I have it on a cooling pad, but will something from a well known program like turbo gear actually cause enough heat internally (assuming all fans are functioning) to damage or reduce the laptop's life? Has anyone ever used turbo gear's overclocking?

My Asus Laptop will not turn on, what do I do? Hi, I have had my Asus Laptop with Vista OS for about 3 months now. I have had problems with the computer starting up in the past, but usually it just fixed itself, and I moved on. Lately, I've kept the computer on all night listening to music (realizing how stupid this was now...). Now what's happened is this: Woke up in the morning after leaving computer on all night, closed all open programs, went to start menu and hit 'Shut Down' button. It shut down correctly. Went out for the day and when I came back and tried to turn on the comuter it didn't work. I hit the power button and a loading screen with the Asus Logo appears. Immediately after that, all the lights except the power button turn off and the screen goes blank except for a small line that looks like an underscore flashing. I have tried unplugging, taking the battery out, hitting f8 to get to safe mode, and a combo of all those things. NOTHING WORKS!!!! Also...I use this laptop for university and I really don't want to have to restore and lose my data. ANY suggestions at all would be great!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Looking for a small, lightweight laptop? I'm looking to buy a small, lightweight notebook this coming weekend (since it'll be tax-free weekend here) because my Acer is about to die. I'm being very picky about my new computer. I want something that has a 13-14 inch display, is very light weight (not more than 4 or 4.2 pounds) and has a decent battery life. Cannot install XP Pro on Asus G1 Laptop? The laptop came with Vista, i decided to revert back to XP. I bought a new hard drive and a new copy of XP Pro now when i try to install it it gets past the copying files portion of the installation and when it reboots nothing happens, just a blinking cursor. I've tried several things that didn't work, low level format, smaller partitions. Nothing seems to work.

Asus Eee Pc. Mini Laptop Confused...? Hello, Ive been looking at a Asus Eee Pc. Ive heard so many good things about it, All i really want it for is web browsing and notepad because i do alot of writting. Im not a gamer, or anything like that. There are somethings I am confused about actually though... Some models have a built in web cam. And some models dont. I would like the model with the webcam, but asus isnt making it clear no matter what website i look on, it doesnt tell me. Another thing, it says it can hold music and you can watch movies on it, how is that possible without a disk drive? O_O? I know it has small memorys and small Gb, but i dont mind, im not into big fancy laptops that make me look cool. Im simply investing in this for convenience. I actually have a mac clamshell right now, I dont really like that mac to be honest, it looks nice and all, but its just not for me, its also huge, not really easy to carry around. so, if anyone knows the answers about the models with and without the cameras, that would be awesome! ..and one other thing... I saw alot of people selling them on Ebay, Ive never had a problem with receiving stuff from Ebay, everythings been good, if the seller has 100 percent feedback? do you think it will be safe? Dead pixel on Asus G71 Laptop? Hey guys, I just got a Asus G71 about a month ago and I noticed this dead pixel (not stuck) in the bottom left corner of my screen. I've tried tons of different dead pixel removers, massaged the area, tapped on it, and pressing down on it and turning the monitor on and off. Nothing. It's a pretty small dead pixel but I payed $1200 for this thing and even though its a cosmetic thing it's annoying the crap out of me. Question regarding laptop power strips? i came home from college without my powerstrip for my laptop ASUS G71GX which according tot he product description outputs 19volts of electricity, which is what the laptop takes... here at home i have another laptop powerstrip which also outputs 19 volts, it also has other specs such as: Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5A 50-60 Hz and the output like i said is 19V (Yes, i capitalized the letters according the the specs) Now my regular power brick is HUGE it's like 4inch by 7inch (guesstimate), while this other one is like 2 inch by 5 inch, is it safe to use this small one on my massive asus laptop (In moderation since i'ma ssuming it will make the brick start getting extremely hot), or am i missing something?

What kind of Netbook laptop is better? I don't really like high tec uber big laptops. I like them small so i just use the computer for the Basic Myspace, and my blog. And itunes , and holding photos so is the Acer Aspire One better or the ASUS Eee PC 900 better? and did i mention im only 14?

Laptop Cooler For An Asus C90s? I am looking for a cooler but I am having issues finding anything for my case other than the zalman cooler. Included down below is a picture of a c90s with the same laptop mod as mine, although mine just looks a little better and instead uses several small holes in the are where he put one big one. Any ways, I need a cooler that can blow air into that hole, not away, but into it. The laptop is 15.4 if memory serves. The position of the hole and the need for it to receive air has made it a hell of a time. The original owner did the mod himself and has told me that with a cooler I can lower it several degrees while gaming, just as he has done. c90s do run a little hot so I am willing to pay a little extra for a slight bit more cooling.

Laptop for Gaming...? I'm looking for a laptop with a budget of just £500. Its main use will be for my GF to facebook & for me to get some gaming in. (Mainly COD4 & Battlefield). I know desktops are best but it wont fit in a small flat! Good mini notebook/Laptop? I am looking at buying a small laptop for use when im on the go or for my little brother to use when im on the desktop. I want a fairly cheap one that can have most features of a desktop [i.e. Microsoft, windows] Probably no more then $700 I have 2 that i've had a look at, the Asus Eee PC 1000H and the MSI Wind. playing diablo 2 in asus eee pc? i have a eee pc windows xp installed directx installed video resolution is 800 X 600 diablo 2 installed however: if i run the game.exe the program says it was not able to run diablo 2 due to video settings. maybe the screen is to small is there an anyway to configure my laptop (asus eee pc 4G)so that i can play diablo 2? diablo 2 is an old blizzard rpg game i can play starcraft and warcraft trough the same laptop. how come i cannot run diablo 2? thanks.

How good is the Asus Eee 4GB? Well I was browsing for a portable laptop and found the Asus Eee 4 GB. I'm impressed by its price ($400), incredibly small size, and its web cam. But I do have some questions. Does it have a CD drive? If not, can I buy one for it? What about its software? What exactly does it come with? What software can I install on it (games, etc.)? Does it need an antivirus? Would you reccommend it? Some first hand answers would be greatly welcomed. Thanks a lot!
