Which is better: the Dell XPS 1330 or the HP Tx1000z series? I have been looking at both of these notebooks. The HP is pretty cool with the tablet option and seems to price out a little lower than the Dell-- However, Dell seems to have a good reputation. Also, battery life is important to me and the HP I read was only about 2 hours, where the Dell was more like 3 hours. There is about a $300 difference in price (Dell more). My laptop (fan) is being extremely loud? My laptop wont start up? It shows the HP screen, and then just goes black and nothing... Anyone else had bad luck with Compaq laptop, Staples and HP Customer service? I purchased a Compaq (HP) notebook on 1/07/09 and on 2/17/09 it died, dead! My essay that was due the next day (to a professor who does not accept late work nor excuses) was on that notebook. Maybe I'm just getting too old and nostalgic for the time before "extended warranties", but Staples (where I purchased said computer) only has a 14 day turn around for returns, unless you spend an extra 50 bucks! Long story short I spent hours, yes hours on the phone with Staples and HP respectively to try and get a quicker resolution than send it it and we'll send it back in 10 business days or so. HP's replacement window was 21 days, damn! Of course they say "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" but really are they? Please respond only if you have had issues with HP or Staples or both, I'd be curious to know how others resolved the issue.

big laptop problem , need help, big help( battery not reading)? ok i got a labtop from a friends a while back , he told me, one day it just turned off on him and it stoped working. I then got the labtop looking to buy a battery for it. Computer on Wifi continually tries to connect to 3g connection? Please help me, since this is giving me a lot of trouble. My computer (which is connected to a Wifi connection), uses a USB Verizon modem to connect to the internet when we are traveling. My problem is that when I am at home and just connected to the Wifi (without the modem plugged in), Mozilla Firefox keeps on trying to connect to the 3G connection. I have tried looking in settings in both networking and with Firefox, but it keeps on trying to connect. Oh, and by the way, I am running Windows Vista Business on my HP Compaq 6710p notebook computer (if you needed that). Does anybody have a solution?

Do I need a new Computer or is it worth it to get this one fixed? First it stopped detecting my memory card, then it wont burn my cds and i just got it to come back on. looking to buy best computer on the market for gaming, any suggestions? I have been searching for sometime now for the best gaming computer on the market. I have looked at Compaq, HP, Gateway, Dell, and Alienware. It feels a little heavy, but it is relatively light compared to my old 8 pound Toshiba notebook. The screen hinges feel solid. There is some rippling of the screen that occurs if you push in on the back of the lid.
