Distorted/Muddy "under water" laptop sound both external speakers and internal speakers.? My laptop's sound goes in and out with this distorted sound. The sounds till go through, but they sound as if they're under water, or just muddled. Muddled seems like the correct word here...maybe like an mp3 with a low bitrate? Or perhaps the sound of someone recording a video of their TV? Similar to that. Not exactly like that, but definitely similar. I usually have a 3.5mm plug going out my earphone port and into my surround sound system, and it sounds extremely muddy through that, but when I unplug the cable, it has the same distorted sound through my laptop speakers. The distortion fades in and out, and the volume goes down when it's distorted. What I mean by "fades in and out" is that it will play the sound perfectly fine for about three minutes or so, then fade into distortion for thirty seconds, and back into clarity. It does this erratically; perhaps 10 seconds of distortion, 10 seconds of clarity, or it may be clear for an hour. It's been like this for weeks, and it affects all programs (youtube, VLC media player, iTunes, video games) I have a Hewlett-Packard Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC with an AMD Athalon Dual-Core QL-62 2.00 GHz processor, 2 gigs ram, 32 bit operating system, service pack 1 (I'm updating to service package two as we speak.) I bought it brand new then. Everything has been working fine. I have used the Maxtor Basics Portable to transfer files and store files with no problems. Until last week. When transferring a file to the Maxtor Basics Portable I got the message, "Disk is Write Protected". I have tried all of the "fixes" (diskpart/formating/checkdisk/rebuilding partition tables and MBR... etc. None of them worked. Ok here is the weird thing. On this laptop i cannot format, disk check(with fix errors checked), change permissions etc. However, on my Acer netbook with the exact same Windows 7 build, everything is fine. I was even able to format my Maxtor Basics Portable after backing up all of the files on another computer. I still am unable to write to my Maxtor Basics Portable and as this is my primary laptop it is necessary for me to resolve this issue. I am running out of space in my laptop. Laggy gaming, please help!? I love MMORPGs. They're wonderful, fun, and extremely enjoyable. Except for now. I've been having some trouble playing any MMOs, even with the graphics turned all the way down. I don't know what it could be. There's another oddity, too. When I'm in game and I alt tab out of the game, then alt tab back in, the game is COMPLETELY lag free. It plays with the most FPS you could ever hope to expect. How can I get OpenGL on my gfx card? I have a Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, and I want to use EDuke32 1.5 and it's mods, but my card doesn't support OpenGL, I've tried updating my card, and that didn't work. My laptop charger isn't connecting correctly..? It used to work perfectly, but lately it just doesn't connect unless I hold it there or put it at a certain angle, and lately it's gotten harder to do even that. Will I have to replace the charger outlet, or can I just get a new plug? My laptop is a Compaq Presario C700 Notebook PC by Hewlett-Packard. Any help would be appreciated.

I flashed my bios on my Compaq Presario and now my computer won't do anything, it only shows a black screen.? Yesterday I received a window that said that an update was available. It said Flash Bios, publisher Hewlett Packard, so I went ahead and installed it, something happened in the middle of the process and my screen turned grey for about 15 minutes, and then went to a blue screen that said something about a driver_power_state_error or something. It said that if I restarted the computer and had no further problems that it would be okay, but if I received that screen again repeatedly then to contact the manufacturer. I couldn't get my laptop to power off at all even manually pressing the off/on button. I called HP and the service tech walked me through a few steps to turn it off, but it wouldn't turn off without having to remove the battery. So I did that and when I powered it back on the screen was blank, like the computer isn't even running. I can hear what sounds like a processor running, but it seems like it is "hung up" and the screen is black, like a tv that is turned off. And I called HP they walked me thru a few steps, but it didn't help. They told me to try to remove the hard drive and ram, but I could get it to come out. It seems delicate, and I am afraid of messing something up. They told me to send my computer in, but I am afraid too. I have a desktop computer that I am using right now, and I done some research and I found out that it was dangerous to flash your bios. I wish I had known about that. I wouldn't have even downloaded that update. What do I do know. How can I fix it? Has anyone of you had any similar problems? What was the results? Do you know any websites that have instructions on how to remove my hard drive and etc.? My notebook is a Compaq Presario CQ160-215DX I just got it in February. Please anyone that has any advice please please leave it here.

How can I tell what motherboard my notebook has? It is a Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX. I flashed my bios yesterday because I got the recommendation pop up from Hewlett Packard. I didn't really know much about Flash Bios. My laptop screen went gray for about 15 minutes and then went to a blue screen that said driver_power_state_failure. I called HP and went through the steps of removing my hard drive and memory. But nothing helped. When I turn on my computer it starts up but the processor sounds like it's hung up or something (keeps repeating) but my screen is completely black, like the screen isn't even on. It was fine before I installed that flash bios thing. HP said that is seems like my computer needs a new motherboard. I don't want to send my computer to HP for various reasons. I was wondering how can figure out what motherboard my computer has in it, so maybe I can try buying a new one myself and doing the swap myself.
